Summer operation of a vertical flow treatment wetland at Bridger Bowl Ski resort.

Wetland solutions for domestic wastewater.

Through the innovative application of vertical-flow wetland technologies we are able to consistently achieve high levels of water treatment for a variety of contaminants in all seasons. Our systems can be designed for optimal removal of biodegradable organics, ammonia, nitrate, total nitrogen or combinations thereof. By working with the owner/operator we can fine-tune system operation for site specific conditions.

Constructed Wetland Designs partnered with an engineering consultant to design and implement a pilot vertical-flow wetland system at the Bridger Bowl Ski area outside Bozeman, MT. The system receives high-strength wastewater, primarily in the winter months; conditions for which traditional and natural, “green” systems have often failed to meet discharge standards. We have operated and optimized the pilot system to exceed the applicable discharge standard (over 90% reduction in total suspended solids and biological oxygen demand (BOD) as well as over 70% reduction in total nitrogen. The successful pilot system design was expanded to meet current and future anticipated flow volumes. Design of the full-scale system has received all required regulatory approvals and is under construction in 2018.
