Winter and summer operations of a treatment wetland at the Ennis National Fish Hatchery.

Wetland treatment systems to meet your recycle or effluent water quality needs.

Wetland systems can be deigned to improve the quality of influent water, recycle water, treat solids rich waste streams and provide effluent polishing. We can offer low maintenance wetland solutions for nitrification, solids removal, and to meet water quality discharge requirements.

Constructed Wetland Designs has been working with the Ennis National Fish Hatchery to optimize a solids collection and treatment wetland system. The system provides year-round separation and treatment of solids which have settled in hatchery race-ways. A vacuum system collects a solids slurry which is sent to a two-stage vertical-flow wetland. The first stage removes and biologically degrades the solids producing a compost product that can be removed from the wetland surface on an approximate 10-15 year cycle without system down-time or subsequent re-planting. The second stage wetland removes nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients that might be produced during solids degradation ensuring that the final effluent can be safely discharged or reused.
